Faculty and staff
Are you looking to promote well-being in your classroom or workplace? Everyone at SFU can help create a healthy campus community. Learn how you can support well-being as a teacher or administrator below.
S: Social connection
What does it mean to be socially connected? Quality relationships are central to individual and collective well-being and you can still feel connected to your networks even if you don’t see them often. Discover ways to enhance your university experience by connecting with others, forming new relationships or enhancing existing relationships, and engaging with your community.
P: Physical health
Physical health is important for overall well-being and is linked to positive mental health. Support your physical health by maintaining your digital well-being, getting restful sleep, nourishing your body with nutritious food, being active, and practicing safer sex.
Awareness of ourselves and our surroundings allows for deeper connection and enhanced perspectives. Know and use your strengths, practice mindfulness, and exercise gratitude.
Contributing to something bigger than ourselves gives us purpose and meaning. Find meaning, be kind, support others, and contribute to your community.
E: Emotional health
Being aware of and attending to our pleasant and unpleasant emotions is important for our overall well-being. Take time to create and savour pleasant experiences, practice resilience and self-compassion, and find support as you need it to enhance your emotional health.
