Flash Recap

This lesson we will start by going through a range of applications for Flash in the industry and show you some related inspirational links. The content on of this lesson will very much depend on the general level of knowledge in the class. We will be moving very fast as this is a review class ment to refresh your memory of the things we covered last semester.

Skills:
We%27ll recap the Flash interface in brief, review how to make Graphics, Buttons and Movie Clips and we%27ll demonstrate several ways of incorporating flash components into an HTML site (embedding, positioning with CSS, etc).

Concepts:
We%27ll review the concept of vector graphics and demonstrate some of the tools for creating graphics in flash.

We will turn some vector graphics into Graphic, Button and Movie Clip Symbols and review how Instances and Symbols work, then demonstrate how to use the Library.

Next we will briefly review the concept of key-frame based animation, the use the Timeline, making layers and create frames and key-frames.

We will review the concept of Movies Clips and how they work. We will use some basic ActionScript on the Movie Clips.

Next we will review how to create proper buttons and how to create actions for them.

Finally, we will review ActionScript and its general syntax and how it works (actions, parameters, functions, etc). We will explain how to target movie clips with ActionScript using root or parent.

Exercise:
We wil go through the tutorial with you and show you how to create a website that has multiple movie clips and buttons which control the main timeline and the multiple Movie Clip timelines.

We%27ll remind you of the resources available and briefly go through the ones posted. As always, there will be time for students to ask questions and play around in the software.
