Web Publishing Level III - Dreamweaver - Intro to PHP

Week 8 Lesson Plan:

This lesson, we'll start by going through some examples of excellent sites using PHP.

Skills:
We'll introduce Dreamweaver interface features including the Tool bar (and all tools), Contextual Tool bar, Palettes, and Menus.

Concepts:
We'll demonstrate the creation of a few tables and of placing images and text links with Dreamweaver. We'll explain some of the advantages and disadvantages of using WYSIWYG editors (Because what you see is not always what you get).

Next we will introduce PHP and run through it's syntax (methods, parameters, variables, statements, etc).

Exercise:
We'll take a simple script and demonstrate what it does, then go through the script with the class and explain what each piece of code does and why.

We will make sure everyone is able to make a simple website with Dreaweaver and answer any related questions you may have.

Wrap-up:
We'll remind you of the resources available and briefly go through the ones posted. As always, there will be time for students to ask questions and play around in the software.
