Introduction to Flash

Week 9 Lesson Plan:

This lesson we will go start by going through a range of applications for Flash in the industry and show you some related inspirational links.

Skills:
We'll introduce the Flash interface features including the Tool bar (and all tools), Contextual Tool bar, Palettes, Library, Timeline, Layers, Stage and Menus.

Concepts:
We'll review the concept of vector graphics and demonstrate some of the tools for creating graphics in flash.

We will turn some vector graphics into Graphic Symbols and explain how Instances and Symbols work, then demonstrate how to use the Library.

Next we will introduce the concept of key-frame based animation, demonstrate how to use the Timeline, make layers and create frames and key-frames.

Exercise:
We will create a simple Motion Tween animation and a Shape Tween Animation.

We will show you how how to create a Mask Layer then animate that mask using a Motion Tween.

Wrap-up:
We'll remind you of the resources available and briefly go through the ones posted. As always, there will be time for students to ask questions and play around in the software.
