SFU Tennis team edged by UBC in exhibition play

Wednesday, October 19th, 2011

The SFU Tennis Team was defeated 6-5 by UBC in exhibition play on Saturday.  The team performed without its top 2 men and top 3 women’s players but still put up a good fight nearly stealing a victory.  Despite SFU winning 3 of the 5 doubles matches, UBC rebounded to take 4 of the 6 singles matches, including a nailbiter at #1 men’s singles to clinch it.

Later that night, SFU rebounded to defeat Western Washington University 6-2, as they swept all the men’s singles matches.

Indoor Tennis Playing Times

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011

The indoor playing times this year begin October 22nd from 5pm-7pm at Burnaby Tennis Club.  They will run every Saturday until December 3rd, and then begin again in January.  The SFU Tennis Club rents indoor courts through the fall and winter months in order to provide members with the opportunity to continue playing without purchasing an expensive club membership.

These are only open to registered club members, so if you haven’t got your membership yet please go to the recreation office to signup.  You will receive sign-up details in your email, and be sure to sign up quickly as spaces are limited.

Contact Gil (gherrnst@sfu.ca) or Leon (leon.ho90@gmail.com) for more information.
