Burnaby event + map

At Burnaby campus, scores of volunteers and over 1,000 participants will walk/run for cancer research and honour the legacy of Terry Fox on Septmber 30th .

The kick-off includes a ceremony to celebrate this year's student recipient of the prestigious SFU Terry Fox Gold Medal award, presented by the University's president and vice-chancellor, Andrew Petter.

How can I contribute?

  • Participate by starting your own team or joining an existing team for the Walk/Run
  • Volunteer and help organize the runners and walkers
  • Donate by supporting a team online

2018 event timeline

12:00 pm

Gather in Convocation Mall – 10 minutes for photos and fun with MCs and Cheer Team
12:40 pm Pre-event ceremony and welcome with SFU President Andrew Petter and SFU Gold Medal Award recipient (winner TBA)
12:45pm Warm up with SFU Fitness instructors and cheerleaders.  
12:50 pm Walk to start line at Terry Fox statue.
12:55 pm Walk/run begins. Route ends at Terry Fox Field.
1:10 pm onward Post-event gathering, Central Gym - East Side (above South Terrace) Lorne Davies Complex)  

Things to remember

  1. Be comfortable, dress for the weather – rain or shine!
  2. Be hydrated, bring a filled water bottle. No water on route.
  3. Be safe, check your belongings at the bag check in Convocation Mall and picked up in the Central Gym.
  4. Be school spirited, wear SFU red or blue or other theme.
