In 2013, SFU raised over $19,000 for the Terry Fox Foundation! Imagine if everyone at SFU gave a DOLLAR or TWO… we could triple that total!
Interested in Fundraising? Here’s how:
COLLECT PLEDGES:
Online:
Registering on the official Terry Fox Foundation website allows you to collect pledges as either an individual or as a team.
Instructions: Register as a team captain, as a team member, or as an individual...
- Register to FUNDRAISE
- click Sign Up under New Participant
- click Create New Account
- select Simon Fraser University and click Go
- click Simon Fraser University
- click Continue
- select Accept Waiver and click Continue
- select the option you want to register as:
- an individual (you can always go back and register as a team member later)
- a team captain
- a team member
- complete the registration process as instructed
In Person:
Add that personal touch to your fundraising effort by collecting pledges face-to-face…
Instructions:
- Print 2013 Terry Fox pledge form
- Start collecting donations – cash or cheque*
*make cheques payable to Simon Fraser University - Terry Fox Event
Submitting pledge forms and donations:
- Label the pledge form with either the team or individual’s name who collected the donations
- Tally the total amount and write on the bottom of the pledge form
- Put all donations and the completed pledge form in an envelope
- On the front of the envelope write the total amount + either the team or individual’s name who collected the donations
- Submission locations:
Burnaby Campus:
- Event Day: Return to the DONATIONS table located in Convocation Mall (11:00am-12:00pm)
- After the Event: Return to the Athletics and Recreation Main Office - LDC 110 - c/o Sue Armitage (sarmitage@sfu.ca)
Surrey Campus:
- Event Day or After the Event : return donations to the Office of the Executive Director,2715, Podium 2 - c/o Maureen McConnell (maureen_mcconnell@sfu.ca)
At Vancouver Campus:
- Event Day or After the Event : Registrars Office at Harbour Centre
Tips for collecting pledges
- Invite your family and friends to support you in raising funds for cancer research
- Challenge others (colleagues, departments, etc.) in their fundraising efforts
- Create team goals and events to raise funds together
- Previous SFU Terry Fox Day team fundraising success stories can provide inspiration, yearly goals and/or the opportunity to challenge another team!
