The fundraising goal last year was $10,000.  By the year's end SFU raised over $16,000!  If everyone at SFU gave a dollar, we could triple that goal.

Ways to collect pledges:

About collecting pledges online:

Registering on the official Terry Fox Foundation site allows you to collect pledges online. You can either register and collect funds as an individual participant or as a team.

INSTRUCTIONS:  Register a team name, as a team member, or as an individual to collect online...

To register your team name or as an individual or team member to collect pledges online:

  1. Navigate to the Terry Fox Foundation registration website: www.terryfox.org
  2. Click on purple tab at top:  'Terry's CAUSE on Campus'
  3. In Quicklinks menu, click:  I want to join my campus event!
  4. Under section, Raise Funds Online, Register online, click red button:
      Sign Up.
  5. In left hand margin, under 'New Participants', click red button:  Sign up
  6. From the drop down menu, select: Simon Fraser University
  7. Press Go.
  8. Under location, select link:  Simon Fraser University
  9. Select red button:  Continue
  10. Accept Waiver, Press: Continue
  11. Select to join as:
    (1) an individual (and join team later),
    (2) a team captain, or
    (3) a team member    .
  12. Follows the instructions.

Encourage people you know to search for you or your team name to donate online.  Or, feel free to download the pledge sheet and collect sponsors in person.

NOTE: Please make cheques payable to "Simon Fraser University - Terry Fox Event".

INSTRUCTIONS:  In person

You can collect pledges in person by printing out a copy of the 2012 SFU pledge sheet.

Pledge submissions:

Pledges and forms should be dropped off prior to and after the SFU Terrry Fox Day to:

  • Burnaby campus: c/o Sue Armitage (sarmitage@sfu.ca), Athletics and Recreation. Drop off at Recreation counter.
  • Surrey campus: Office of the Executive Director, Surrey (2715, Podium 2) (maureen_mcconnell@sfu.ca)
  • Vancouver campus: TBA

Or

  • At Burnaby campus look for the donation table in Convocation Mall on event day and drop off pledge forms and donations then.

Tally the totals on each pledge sheet, and put in an envelope.  Write the total amount enclosed on the envelope.  If you want the donations allocated to a specific team total, then please indicate the team name on the face of the envelope and on the pledge sheets.

Tips for collecting pledges

  • Invite your family, friends, and colleagues to support you in raising funds for cancer research
  • Challenge others (colleagues, departments, etc.) in their fundraising efforts
  • Create team goals and events to raise funds together
  • Previous SFU Terry Fox Day team fundraising success stories can provide inspiration, yearly goals and/or the opportunity to challenge another team!
