Basic Screencasting and Video Editing

Videos and screencasts—digital recordings of your computer screen accompanied by audio narratives—offer engaging and dynamic ways to communicate information and concepts.

In this workshop, you will learn the basics of how to create and edit video and screencasts using Camtasia, a user-friendly platform available for purchase from TechSmith. Topics will include cutting and placing footage, importing additional media, and adding transitions, annotations and titles, effects, behaviours and animations.

Depending on your interest, you can then apply these skills to create your own instructional videos or use them to create video-based assignments.

Note that we will be using Camtasia 2 for Macs and Camtasia 9 for PCs. Participants will be paired up on computers, but you may bring your own computer with Camtasia already installed if you prefer to work alone (please notify us in advance by email at tlcevent@sfu.ca if you intend to use your own computer).

Visit this site for more information on Camtasia.
