Car Free Festival Philosophers'
Cafés
On Thursday, September 22, noon-8pm, people of all ages will be walking,
jogging, skating, cycling, scootering, taking transit or ride-sharing
to hip, historic Gastown for a fun, friendly festival. Water
Street and and one block of Carrall Street will be closed to vehicle
traffic and transformed into a traffic-free streetscape with music,
performance and displays that celebrate the healthy and affordable
ways people in our community can move around.
Everyone is welcome to join the sidewalk Philosophers' Cafés
at Gaoler's Mews @ 12 Water St. The cafés will concentrate
on topics related to climate-friendly living and alternative transportation.
Café times:12:30-1:30, 2:30-3:30, 4:30-5:30, 6:30-7:30. Admission

Moderator: Roman Onufrijchuk, an adjunct professor
at the School of Communications at SFU and a long-time moderator of
the Dunbar Community
Centre Philosophers' Café.
Topic: Alumni from each decade will be addressing the topic "Why
SFU?" Everyone
is welcome. Admission is free.
Simon Fraser University would like to
thank each of you who, over the last term, made personal donations to
help support the Philosophers' Café and the potential for
positive outcomes in our communities through open dialogue, the sharing
of knowledge and the program's commitment to inclusiveness.
Philosophers' Cafés are organized by Interdisciplinary Programs
in Continuing Studies at Simon Fraser University in cooperation with
the dedicated, peripatetic moderators listed alongside each event in
this tabloid.
We thank the many local cafés, restaurants and centres for
hosting the program on their premises, as well as organizations and
individuals who have helped to raise the level of public onversation
in our community.
