For SFU, 2009 was year of renewal, including three new faculties  and the ongoing construction of a new home for SFU Contemporary Arts as part of Vancouver's historic Woodward's revitalization project.

It was a year of milestones, including a 40th anniversary for the SFU Alumni Association, a 35th anniversary for the Seniors Program and a fifth year at the Surrey campus for SFU's 38-year-old Continuing Studies program.

And, as always, it was a year of remarkable achievements both inside and outside the classroom, new inventions, world-renowned research, and award-winning academic and community accomplishments by SFU faculty, students, staff and alumni.

What's more, Canada's perennially best comprehensive university was again rated No. 1 by Maclean's magazine for the second year running and ranked among Canada's top 100 employers for the third straight year by the country's largest publisher of employment-related periodicals.
