Earned Media:

The month of September was bustling with 50th anniversary events, activities and notable announcements.  This month experienced the second highest YTD % of earned media mentions, with 44% of media mentions covering SFU achievements as well as SFU involvement in B.C. issues. Earned media is the return on investment of proactive media relations and pitching by University Communications.

Some amazing milestones have recently been reached on our social media channels.

  • Instagram - 5,000 followers
  • Facebook - 40,000 followers

The Bill Nye pic from the fall convocation ceremony was a hit on Instagram and Twitter, smashing some previous records:

  • Instagram: 1,000+ likes (previous record from Sept. 9 fireworks pic was 615)
  • Twitter: 100+ RTs and 100+ favourites (previous record ~20)
