This February marks the 10th anniversary of Simon Fraser University’s CaseIT, the largest Management Information Systems (MIS) case competition in North America.

This year’s event will take place Feb. 6-9 at Simon Fraser University’s Harbour Centre, the Segal Graduate School of Business, and the Morris J. Wosk Centre, all based in downtown Vancouver, and at the Vancouver Aquarium.

There will also be a discussion panel on Thursday, Feb. 7 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Morris J Wosk Centre, with a theme of mobility. Final presentations will take place on Saturday, Feb. 9 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Segal Graduate School of Business.

Starting in 2004 as a small, three-hour case competition, CaseIT has evolved into an annual four-day event and become one of the highlights in the calendar of SFU’s Beedie School of Business.

The competition now attracts the best and brightest MIS students from around the globe to showcase their abilities in business case analysis by applying them to real world scenarios.

In addition to presentations and the competition, CaseIT’s unique structure incorporates opportunities for the participants to explore Vancouver, as well as providing invaluable networking opportunities to build connections with industry professionals and fellow MIS students.

Since its establishment, CaseIT has grown to attract competitors from schools around the globe. In 2008, the competition reached new heights as the participation of the Copenhagen School of Business turned it into an international competition. Since then, CaseIT has gone on to host schools from around North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.

In 2011, the CaseIT Foundation was established as the umbrella organization for the competition to ensure the goal of promoting educational advancement and study of MIS. The CaseIT Foundation continues to amplify CaseIT’s commitment to education and development.

The 2013 CaseIT competition is open to the public with free admission. For more information, and to register for CaseIT, visit
