Executive Director: Laurie Anderson

Dr. Laurie Anderson is the Executive Director of Simon Fraser University, Vancouver. Laurie has been a elementary teacher, principal, District Principal, Director of Curriculum, Associate Superintendent and Interim Superintendent of Schools for the Vancouver Board of Education. Laurie has also been a consultant on education reform for the Ministry of Education, an Adjunct Professor in the School of Community and Regional Planning at UBC, a curriculum developer and instructor for Vancouver Community College, a mediation consultant for schools throughout BC, a facilitator of the VSB's Leadership Development Program, and developer and instructor of the Instructor Training Program, a course taken by over 2,000 aspiring teachers of adults over the last 22 years. 

Laurie obtained his BEd, MA and PhD at SFU, served as a Director on the Canadian Bureau of International Education for six years and completed the Certificate Program in Conflict Resolution at the Justice Institute.

Director, Public Relations: Scott McLean

Scott McLean joined SFU Vancouver as the Director of Public Relations in April of 2011, after serving as the Media, Broadcast & Sports Information Director at Simon Fraser University. Scott is tasked with executing the communications plan for SFU's downtown campus, as well as all media relations and internal communications.

Scott completed his Executive Master of Business Administration from SFU in 2011, and also holds a Master of Science from Canisius College and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Bishop's University.

Manager, Maintenance and Operations: Craig Changfoot

Craig Changfoot joined SFU Vancouver as the Manager, Maintenance and Operations in April of 2009, after working at BC Housing Development Services as a Senior Project Officer for the Interior Region of BC. Craig is responsible for the maintenance and operations for all buildings in the SFU Vancouver portfolio.  This portfolio is comprised of Harbour Centre, Centre for Dialogue, Segal Graduate School of Business, Goldcorp Centre for the Arts and 611 Alexander.

Head, Belzberg Library: Karen Marotz

Karen Marotz has been with SFU Vancouver since the opening of the Harbour Centre campus, starting as the Head of Belzberg Library in 1989 and developing library services, space and collections to support SFU's growing downtown presence.  Her previous professional experience includes managing information services at the Vancouver Board of Trade and working in various public library systems.

Karen is also an alumna of Simon Fraser University, completing her BA and receiving the Governor General's medal as top graduate in 1979 before completing her Master of Library Science degree at UBC in 1982.

Shaughnessy Sturdy joined SFU Vancouver in 2009 and is currently the Assistant Registrar for our campus.  As a Master's student in the Urban Studies program, Shaughnessy understands the SFU Vancouver student experience and is keen to deliver the best possible service to all who visit the Vancouver campus. Director, Marketing & Communications, Meeting, Event and Conference Services (MECS) & Ancillary Services: Susan Labentsoff

Susan Labentsoff joined SFU in August of 2011. Susan has extensive sales and marketing experience in the tourism and hospitality fields and has worked in senior positions at Coast Hotels and Resorts, Rocky Mountaineer and Marriott Hotels.  Susan is tasked with executing the strategic sales and marketing direction of the Meetings Events and Conference Services which includes four unique venues downtown as well as the Burnaby campus. A graduate from the EMBA program at SFU, Susan also has her Diploma in Marketing and Sales from BCIT.

Director, Finance & Administration: Claudia Wang

Claudia Wang joined SFU Vancouver in November of 2012, after working for nine years in various challenging roles at SFU's Burnaby campus. With a wealth of experience at the university, from managing Student Financials, to completing strategic projects and system upgrades and improvement at Student Services and Finance, Claudia is tasked with providing financial leadership and key administrative, consultative and budget support to the Executive Director and the SFU Vancouver Services Group.

Claudia completed her Executive Master of Business Administration from SFU in 2012, and her Certified General Accountant designation from CGA-BC in 2010.  She also holds a BBA from SFU.
