SFU VentureLabs® Awarded Top Challenger in North America by UBI Global

February 26, 2018

SFU Innovates program SFU VentureLabs® has been awarded Top Challenger in North America by UBI Global, the world's most extensive benchmark study of university-linked business incubators and accelerators.

The award is determined by The UBI World Rankings of University-linked Incubators and Accelerators 17/18. Defined by the rankings as “a university-linked incubation program that stands out from its peers due to its impressive overall impact and performance achievements,” the Top Challenger award is an honour to receive and reinforces VentureLabs as an SFU Innovates program success story.

SFU Innovates, the university-wide strategy that builds on Simon Fraser University's dynamic culture while strengthening the university's commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship, is built upon four pillars.

Under the pillar of Incubation & Acceleration - transforming ideas made in the classroom, lab and community into ventures that scale - VentureLabs is a business accelerator program that works with science, technology and innovation-based Canadian companies to scale up their businesses for world-class success. This is achieved by 'powering up' these ventures with the talent, technologies, and research expertise they need.

Ian Hand, executive director, VentureLabs, congratulated the team effort in attaining this recognition from UBI Global: “The results reflect the incredible cumulative effort and impact from all of the VentureLabs participating companies, their amazing founders and team members, and our serial-entrepreneur executives-in-residence, mentors, professional advisors, and accelerator team members.”

Simon Fraser University congratulates VentureLabs on their Top Challenger award.

They were officially recognized for this achievement at the World Incubation Summit (WIS18) in Toronto, Feb 22-23 2018. Contact VentureLabs to discuss how their team's experience, programs, and services can help your company accelerate to success: www.venturelabs.ca.
