Vancouver Farmer's Market: Fresh food comes (close) to campus
by Maika Nguyen
The Vancouver Farmers Market has moved even closer to SFU’s Vancouver campus and we visited the market on their opening day. A great lunch time idea or break from classes, we think you’ll find something to enjoy at this local market.
From local turnips to freshly baked pastries, the Vancouver Farmers Market brings the countryside to the big city this summer. Located in the Queen Elizabeth Theatre plaza, just a 10 min walk from SFU Vancouver at Harbour Centre, the market runs from June 1st to October 5th, every Thursday at 11:00- 3:00 pm.

In a rush? The Farmers Market also offers fresh boxes. Each week these boxes are carefully curated based off of the summer harvest. For 25$ a box you can receive fresh organic local produce in an eco-friendly take-away box.

Want to grab lunch? For those who are wanting a bite to eat, food trucks and baked goods are always available at the market— no preparation required. The pastries are always the first to go so make sure you come early!
The Vancouver Farmers Market is a great way to support local vendors and learn about food systems impact in your neighbourhood and around your city.
Throughout the summer, the Market will also be hosting several theatrical and public events on site. Stay tuned for some SFU-Vancouver Farmers Market collaborations!
