About Us

About the Committee

The Committee is comprised of student representatives from graduate and undergraduate programs based at the Vancouver Campus of Simon Fraser University. Our purpose is to advocate for student needs, improve cross-program communication and foster a sense of community and social inclusiveness.  The Committee provides an opportunity for students to connect and discuss common issues on campus. Our goal is to become a stronger, unified voice that will create lasting and meaningful change for students at the Vancouver Campus.

The VCSC was formed in late 2010 by several graduate students based in Vancouver, and has grown to include representation from undergraduates as well as members from the Services Group at SFU Vancouver. We are not directly linked to the Graduate Student Society or Simon Fraser Student Society, however our members hold executive positions with their respective program caucuses, which are formally constituted by both societies. The Committee holds no assets and receives no direct funding, but has successfully encouraged funding from the Graduate Student Society for campus events.

We welcome participation and ideas from all students at the Vancouver Campus. Our meetings typically occur twice a month at Harbour Centre in the afternoon.
