Faculty Structure Implementation

SFU Senate and the Board of Governors have approved the creation of new Faculties at SFU:

Faculty of Applied Sciences

  • School of Computing Science
  • School of Engineering Science

Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology (pending approval of name)

  • School of Communication
  • School for the Contemporary Arts
  • School of Interactive Arts and Technology
  • Master's of Publishing Program

Faculty of Environment

  • Environmental Science Program
  • Department of Geography
  • School of Resource and Environmental Management
  • Centre for Sustainable Community Development
  • Graduate Certificate Program in Development Studies

The School of Kinesiology is moving to the Faculty of Science.

The new Faculties will come into being as of April 1, 2009.  They will begin accepting new students for Fall 2009.  Students in existing programs (listed above) that are moving into new Faculties will receive their degrees in the new Faculties following the Convocation of June 2009.  Searches for Deans of the new Faculties will begin Fall, 2008.
