Search Timeline

The search for a new dean can be a lengthy process. A consultative process with significant participation from stakeholders is essential to ensuring the search committee finds and recommends the best candidate to lead the Faculty of Education. Input provided by our faculty, staff, students and community partners is invaluable and the timeline below describes your opportunities to participate.

Summer 2018: Members of the search committee are elected, selected, and appointed according to Policy A13.05.

Friday, September 21, 2018: An Open Forum takes place from 9:30am - 11:00am in ASB 10900, Surrey campus 5380, and Segal Building 4400. 

Early October 2018: The position description will be finalized and a call for applications will be made.

Early December 2018: Potential candidates are identified and discussed by the search committee. 

January 2019: Interviews are held for shortlisted candidates.

Late January 2019: The search committee recommends the preferred candidate to the President.

The Search Committee for the Dean, Faculty of Education is interested in hearing your opinions on the opportunities, challenges, qualifications, and characteristics sought in the next Dean. Your attributed comments will be received by the search committee only.

The deadline to submit your comments is 4:30pm on Wednesday, September 26th.

The search committee is also interested in receiving candidate nominations. Please provide your nominations (with contact information for the nominee) in the Comments box below. You may also send nominations directly to adminvpa@sfu.ca.

The nomination deadline will be set in the coming weeks as the search committeee develops the position description.
