2016-2020 STRATEGIC RESEARCH PLAN

SFU's 2016-2020 Strategic Research Plan builds on its strengths and successes, and positions the university to continue to grow its capacity in research and knowledge mobilization. This plan provides direction for solidifying SFU's interdisciplinary research strengths while building critical mass in areas that are globally relevant and strategically important.

SFU INNOVATES

SFU Innovates is a university-wide strategy that builds on our dynamic culture and seeks to strengthen SFU’s commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship. Based on SFU’s vision to be Canada’s engaged university, SFU Innovates helps students and researchers mobilize their ideas for positive social and economic impact.

KEY, SFU'S BIG DATA INITIATIVE

From genomics to criminology, from physics to healthcare, KEY, SFU's Big Data Initiative seeks to spark new collaborations that combine big questions and big ideas with data-intensive discovery. SFU is building on a decade of leadership in the field of big data, investing in advanced research computing to accelerate scholarship and innovation by bringing new data tools and resources to all members of our campus community.

KNOWLEDGE MOBILIZATION

SFU is committed to providing sustained resources to support researchers in sharing their findings with wider communities in meaningful ways. This commitment to knowledge mobilization is intended to facilitate wider public engagement with research and deepen connections between researchers and knowledge users.
