Alumni/Industry Lecture: Maria Klawe - Being And Finding Great Mentors

UBC Department of Computer Science, in partnership with the Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology (SCWIST), is inviting Maria Klawe to join them for an informal talk and networking session. Klawe, named by Fortune as one of the “World’s 50 Greatest Leaders,” will share her experience as a mentor, and her insights into how to find great mentors.

Maria Klawe is the president of Harvey Mudd College and is ranked 17 on the 2014 list of Fortune's World's 50 Greatest Leaders. Prior to joining Harvey Mudd, Klawe was the dean of engineering at Princeton University, and before that, Klawe pioneered strategies to support women and underrepresented groups in science and engineering here at the University of British Columbia. She served as dean of science from 1998 to 2002, vice president of student and academic services from 1995 to 1998, and head of the Department of Computer Science from 1988 to 1995. She wiil also be speaking at the President's Dream Colloquium hosted by WWEST.
