The President's Dream Colloquium, hosted by WWEST Chair Dr. Lesley Shannon, is coming soon and one of the talks will be by Dr. Maria Klawe. This talk is entitled, "Diversity 101: The Case for Diversity in Technology."

We invite you to join the PDC for “Women in Technology: Attracting, Retaining and Promoting Diverse Talent” to explore strategies for advancing diversity in the technology sector, critically analyze the culture that has supported a foundation of inequality therein, and engage in multidisciplinary dialogue about the value of creating more space for women and other under-represented groups in technology.

Maria Klawe joined Harvey Mudd from Princeton University after serving 14 years at the University of British Columbia. Prior to UBC, Klawe spent eight years with IBM Research in California and two years at the University of Toronto. She received her Ph.D. (1977) and BSc (1973) in mathematics from the University of Alberta.

Klawe is a renowned lecturer and has given talks at international conferences, national symposia, and colleges across the U.S. and Canada about diversity in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines and industries, gender and gaming, and lessons from her own career in STEM industry and education.
