The 1998 International Symposium on Memory Management

ISMM '98 will be held in Ballroom C of the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre, across the stree from Waterfront Center (the recommended hotel). A Continental Breakfast will be available in Ballroom C from 7:30 to 8:30. The program will start at 8:30 on Saturday. You will be able to register in Ballroom C.

You may REGISTER for ISMM either using the electronic registration form or by printing and mailing or faxing a plain text form.


Conference attendees should utilize the OOPSLA Housing Bureau to make HOTEL RESERVATIONS, preferably at the Waterfront Center. You may use the other hotels but there will be no busing on Saturday. The Accommodation Reservation Form should be used to reserve a room at the conference rates. Note: The OOPSLA Housing Bureau information makes no mention of ISMM (at the time this is being written), but they will arrange ISMM housing.


The International Symposium on Memory Management is a forum for research in several related areas of memory management, especially garbage collection and dynamic storage allocators. Areas of interest include but are not limited to: garbage collection, dynamic storage allocation, storage managemeent implementation techniques and their interactions with language and OS implementation, and empirical studies of programs' memory allocation and referencing behavior.

ISMM '98 continues the tradition of the successful to the International Workshops on Memory Management held in 1992 (St. Malo, France) and 1995 (Kinross, Scotland). Proceedings of these conferences are available from Springer-Verlag (Lecture Notes in Computer Science no. 637 and no. 986).

The 1998 Symposium Proceedings will be published by ACM. Authors should read the ACM Author Guidelines and related information.
