Since 1979, the government of Iran, as part of a larger strategy of persecution,
has systematically deprived the 300,000 Bahá’ís there of higher education.
The denial of education is based entirely on religious discrimination.
Their goal is the ultimate destruction of the Bahá’í community in Iran.
The situation in Iran represents perhaps the only case where the human right
to education is being intentionally denied to an entire group of people.
Help take action against this injustice
by writing a one page letter of protest to influential persons or organizations such as:
United Nations Secretary-General
United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights
UNESCO’s Director-General (especially in the light of the “Education for All by 2015” campaign)
UNICEF’s executive director
Iran’s representatives to the United Nations
United Nations Commission on Human Rights
Representatives of your country, especially Foreign Affairs
