Anacreon

Anacreon is quite possibly the best strategy game there is. And it's now freeware! Note: this page was not designed to be the Anacreon world headquarters, but it seems that it is now... I'll try to update the site over Christmas to make it more useful - PlanetAnacreon? :) Email cdemwell@hotmail.com if you want to give me suggestions or if you want to leave comments on the site.

Things You'll Need to Play

The program, Anacreon.zip (249,893 bytes).
New version, Anacreon 1.30
A computer running DOS 3.3 or later (not neccessarily an 8086-compatible processor).
A non-hercules display card (the flashing text is too annoying to be playable).

The best other Anacreon site I've seen is Roald E. Peterson III's Anacreon Page
Roald Peterson is promoting the Anacreon Reconstruction Project, which is an idea I have heard from lots of people lately, since this site got some exposure. I encourage everyone who is interested in building a new version of Anacreon to go join up!
