Statement of Intent:
My work consists of one hundred 4x7 photographic images of surveillance video stills. (144inchs by 579inchs) The work would consist of five rows of twenty synchronized images. The images would have an inch of space between each image, therefore following a basic schematic of a video storyboard.
My intent is to illustrate the multiple different levels of surveillance that can be captured. The work is titled, Surveillancing Surveillance. My concept illustrations how easily the art of surveillance and be turned on itself. The work exams how surveillance can be used as a tool that illustrates the normality of what modern life is becoming.
Artist Bio:
My practice employs photography both as a medium as well as a subject for investigation. My investigation begins with the use of simplistic everyday moments wherein I employ associations with movement, perspective and perception. This can be seen in my process, which includes the use of repetition and fragmentation. When I take photographs I feel it is important to use the angle, perspective and framing to form the composition. I exploit the perspective by using different approaches to documenting my subject matter, allowing for a dynamic and charged documentation of typical and somewhat ordinary social situations. This allows for an exploration in relationships, experience, and social dynamic and social space of my subjects.
