David Milam is an entering 2007 PhD student at Simon Frasier School of Interactive Arts and Technology (SIAT). His main pursuit is to reconcile theory and practice that fosters new game genres in the field of architecture, simulation, and interactive narrative. His academic career is situated in architecture and new media; first through a Bachelors degree in Architecture at the University of Southern California followed by a Masters in Design Studies degree at Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Professionally, David's expertise was utilized in computer games research and development where new avenues were explored to make game spaces more compelling such as narrative, emotional engagement, immersion, and play. For the last 2+ years he has worked as a production manager in industry to develop a web 2.0 immersive hypermedia travel experience called Everyscape.

At the moment, David's ultimate goal is to diversify computer based games and their impact on users, and to potentially create new applications in emerging markets and media forms.
