CHAIR, Undergraduate Curriculum Committee

(2009-2012):  In addition to regular activities (such as approving transfer courses, recommending students for awards, and participating in faculty-wide meetings), the main project that I am coordinating is the creation of a Certificate in the Linguistics of Speech Science, preparing students for speech pathology, audiology, forensic science, and the instrumental and theoretical study of acoustics and speech. I also coordinated the reorganization of our First Nations Language courses, from LING and LANG designations to a new FNLG name.

(2006- 2007):  In addition to regular activities, I completed the following projects: (i) initiated, coordinated, and processed a new Joint Major B.A. in First Nations Studies and Linguistics; (ii) coordinated and processed a new Certificate in German Studies; (iii) coordinated and processed a major revision to the undergraduate curriculum, streamlining the phonetics and phonology courses; and (iv) coordinated and processed the following new courses: LING 295 Language and the Law; LING 410 Theories of Applied Linguistics; LING 411 Topics in Applied Phonetics; LING 412 Topics in Applied Grammar and Discourse; LING 415 Neurolinguistics; PERS 118-3 Introduction to Persian I; PERS 168-3 Introduction to Persian II; PORT 102 Introductory Portuguese I; and PORT 103-3 Introductory Portuguese II.

 

CHAIR, Advisory Committee, Language Training Institute Search for a Director

(2005 - 2007): Coordinated advertisement of position, assessment of applicants, interviews; Participated in talks, meetings, and meals with candidate; Picked up candidate at the airport and shuttled candidate between hotel and SFU.

 

DIRECTOR, Teaching English as a Second Language Certificate Committee

(2003-2004): Coordinated the assessment of applicants to the program; responded to inquiries and issues regarding curriculum, certification, and professional liaisons.

 

ACADEMIC INTEGRITY ADVISOR

(2009-2012): Assist with inquiries and cases regarding academic integrity policies; attend campus-wide meetings
