Are you thinking about going to graduate school?

I am looking for graduate students at both the masters and doctoral level, who are interested in field research concerned with various aspects of the use of computers, particularly related to the health sector.

I am currently involved with several grant-funded projects related to the use of information technology in a variety of settings, including in the health sector. (Please refer to the research link on my web page for more details about specific projects).

If you are interested in the possibility of pursuing a graduate degree at Simon Fraser University related to

please send me an email to further discuss what our graduate program can offer you.

Graduate students working with me have access to ongoing employment on research projects at the Assessment of Technology in Context Design lab (the ATIC Lab), in addition to financial support allocated by the School of Communication to incoming graduate students.

The ATIC lab can also provide financial support to graduate students to present the results of ATIC lab research projects at national and international conferences.

Students working with me are encouraged to develop a thesis or project proposal related to an ongoing ATIC project (because you will finish school more quickly this way!), but are not required to do so.

Students working with me can expect to gain practical experience conducting field research on projects involving diverse community partners, including unions, public libraries, and health sector agencies and health boards.

Please contact me if you would like more information, or would like to discuss the School of Communication graduate program.      -Ellen Balka.
