I'm a composer living in Langley, a suburb of Vancouver. My day gig is an associate professor of electroacoustic music at Simon Fraser University's School for the Contemporary Arts, where I teach some courses. I’m also the chair of the graduate program there.

I spend a lot of time trying to make my computer help me compose by making it more intelligent. Specifically I'm involved in the notion of MetaCreation with SIAT's Philippe Pasquier, which is imbuing computers with creative behaviour. I also make robots – designed and built by Ajay Kapur – play my music. NSERC and Canada Council felt our work was worthy of a major New Media Grant. More info on it here. PopMatters recently ran a story that focused upon our work. Another online rag did a story as well. Here’s a talk I recently gave on one project.

I used to write a lot of music for Serge Bennathan's Dancemakers, and critics had some things to say about my music. Here's a Hollywood-style press release.

A CD of mine, music for Les Arbres d'Or, is available online. I've also got a piece on this CD and this one. My electroacoustic music (no live work, tho') is also available at SONUS.

My one-time alternate persona had music available online. It received airplay in, of all places, Macedonia, Croatia, Australia, and Michigan. Some of this music is/was available via kolorform records (out of print), as well as on the German netaudio label 2063, the Chicago netlabel stasisfield, two Vancouver net-labels (kikapu and nishi).

You can also listen to most of my music here.

I'm a member of the Canadian League of Composers (CLC), the Canadian Electroacoustic Community (CEC), the International Computer Music Association (ICMA), the Society of ElectroAcoustic Music in the United States (SEAMUS), SOCAN, and an associate composer of the Canadian Music Centre.

I can't live without my Mac, (a 17" 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7 MacBook Pro). I like shiny things, and thus own both an iPhone and an iPad.

I used to play squash way too much (formerly a low "A" level player, once ranked in the top100 in BC), but a serious disc injury stopped my competitive play. Now I coach soccer, play keeper for a +40 Men's team, am a fan of Arsenal FC, and spend more time in my garden.

I've written a lot of software for the Mac, all using Max/MSP. Check it out...

Here are the necessary and gratuitous photos of my family...

Here's my Wikipedia (!) entry. I had nothing to do with it.

If you can believe it, this site was actually awarded a "Cool Site of the Day!" by Eye Magazine in 1995! (If nothing else, it shows how long this site has been taking up bandwidth. Not only that, but this site seems to have outlived the Magazine...)

Here's my (probably out of date) C.V.
