On this page I will post news and updates for students in Communication 110, Spring 2006 (1061). Most of this information will just be a repeat of information that was sent to the group via email, but I will try to remember to archive summaries of those emails here in case anyone misses anything.

January 10, 2006: There are no tutorials in the first week of classes. You will meet your TA and discuss the allocation of marks for tutorials (15% of the final grade) in your first tutorial.

January 12, 2006: There was a mistake in the printing of the courseware package, so if you purchased a package before January 12th you have a version that is out of date. You need to return this copy to the bookstore and exchange it for the correct version. The bookstore had placed approximately 120 copies on the shelves on Thursday, January 12th, with the remaining copies due to be ready by the afternoon of Friday, January 13th. The mistake, incidentally, was made in reprographics, not by the bookstore, so please don't complain to anyone in the bookstore about the problem, as they are totally innocent!

If you borrowed or bought a copy from a previous semester, the version that was used in the Fall semester of 2004 (1057) is identical to the version we are using this term. Anything earlier than 1057 is seriously out of date and cannot be used.

January 31, 2006: Sorry, the last portion of the lecture today wasn't recorded owing to a technical problem. Best to get the note for what you missed from one of the students in your tutorial.

February 13, 2006: Check out the following web site for information about the 2006 Dalton Campt Award. Winners of an essay contest on theme of "the media's contribution to democracy in Canada" will win $5,000.00 The deadling is March 31st, 2006. The address is:

February 14, 2006: I will be away this week beginning on Thursday (February 16th) and won't be on campus again until Monday, Febraury 27th.

In the meantime, here is a link to a page of sample questions for the upcoming mid-term (Tuesday, February 28th).
