My proof reading turned out to be not to be fool proof. The following corrections and modifications might be noted. Several of these corrections were kindly brought to my attention by Ian MacLachlan's 'eye for detail'. Thanks Ian! It might also be noted that in the second edition of the book several of these corrections have been addressed.

1. Page 3 and page 469, Taylor and Thrift's (1984) book was actually published in 1982.

2. Page 28, Table 2.3, fifth column, replace 'trucks' with 'trusts'.

3. Page 117, left column, line six, replace 'outside' with 'inside' and on line 10 replace inside' with 'outside'. (You might say these terms are inside out!).

4. Page 143, right column, five lines from bottom and following: The Edsel of course was not a technical failure; it ran perfectly well and there are still collectors items around. However, it was a marketing disaster.

5. Page 145, the Come by Chance Oil refinery was re-started in 1987, See file: 'Come By Chance'.

6. Pages 173, right column, 5 lines from bottom, and 191 (right column, 13 lines from top), Iceland's population is nearer 250, 000 (not 500, 000).

7. Page 245, right column, line 11, replace 'chucken' with 'chuken'.

8. Page 247, Table 10.1, No. 2 replace 'Pooli' with 'Paoli' (and 'Po' with 'Pa'); Nos. 6 and 43 replace 'OR' with 'WIS'\', No. 27. add 'MINN', and No. 34 add IOWA.

9. Page 261, right column, paragraph 2, 8 and 6 lines from bottom, 'maquiladora' and McAllen' are mistyped. 'Maquilador' (and maquilas') is also mistyped on page 398, column 2, second paragraph.

10. Page 263, left column, paragraph 2, line 4, modify 'linking enterprise dependence' with 'enterprise and local dependence'.

11. Page 335, Table 13.5, title should refer to 'Wood Remanufacturing' (not remaining).

12. Page 343, right column, 15 lines from bottom. 'occasionally' is mistyped.

13. Page 435, right column. The following sentence should be appended to the first paragraph: 'Then, either the positive or the negative differences are summed and divided by 100.' Then on line 10, replace 'specialized' with 'diversified'.

14. A number of German place names are misspelled, namely Duisburg (not Duisberg) on pages 404, 405, 406 and 407; Gelsenkirchen (not Geisenkirchen) on page 60; Heidelberger (not Heidelburger) on page 250; and Nuremberg (not Nuremburg) on page 203.

15. Page 270, in Tables 11.2 and 11.3 the percentages do not add to 100% because several countries are omitted. The respective titles should really refer to 'selected' country of origin and 'selected' recipient country or area.

16. Page 130, in Tables 5.3 the first row under Costs should be 'fibre' (and not 'other mill costs' which is listed twice).
