Book Club Rhymes - 2007 edition
The 2007 edition featured not one, not even two or three, but four freshly-written
limericks! In fact some of the contributions are so generous with their
syllabic count that we would probably construct a bonus limerick from the
excess!
Suite Française (Irène Némirovsky) |
|
There’s a fabulous compôte des fraises
And a crème caramel of Monet’s.
All these you’ll discover
On opening the cover

On Book Club procedures |
|
There was once a club member not so well-read
Proposing books for her discerning group filled her with dread.
Primary, secondary, thematically-linked, on the Master list (or not!),
Well-reviewed, available in libraries, and inexpensively bought.
Impossible to satisfy! Easier to keep these readers extremely well-fed. -

Heat (Bill Buford) |
|
The life of a chef is a bitch, in
New York’s top restaurant’s kitchen.
Though you drive a Mercedes
It’s hotter’n Hades;
You’ll end up heatstruck, prone, and twitchin’... - Michael
|
Cuba Libre (Elmore Leonard) |
|
If Elmore is to be believed
The murder road is a slippery slope.
But though the gang
Has much killing to do,
There's still time for sex after soap. - Fred
