Talon's total grants

Note: Grant income shown above includes grants from the following four components:

Canada Council block grant
DOC component 1 grants (grants made on the basis of sales, later rolled into the Canada Council granting program)
grants made under B.C.'s Title Assistance program
grants from the B.C. Heritage program

(Provincial grants under 3) and 4) have averaged roughly $10,000 annually during the 1980s.)

All other grants are either netted out of expenses (Canada Council's Book Publisher's Promotion Fund is an example) or are signed directly over to the author (grants for promotional tour expenses) or translator (translation grants).
