Requirements and Marking:

1. There will be an in-class mid-term examination worth 20 percent of the course mark and a final examination worth 30 percent.

2. One ten-page paper is due at the end of term and is worth 40 percent of the class mark. LATE PAPERS WILL LOSE TEN PERCENT PER DAY LATE. An outline for the paper is due at the mid-term exam. LATE OUTLINES WILL RECEIVE A ZERO GRADE. ALL STUDENTS SHOULD FAMILIARIZE THEMSELVES WITH THE DEPARTMENT POLICY ON PLAGIARISM.

3. Ten percent of the course mark will be awarded on the basis of tutorial participation, which includes the posting of a question

each week to the class e-mail list (pol251-d1@sfu.ca) responding to the weekly required readings. QUESTIONS MUST BE POSTED NO LATER THAN TUESDAY MIDNIGHT BEFORE THE TUTORIAL. LATE QUESTIONS WILL RECEIVE A ZERO GRADE.
