The Centre for Veterinary Epidemiological Research is seeking an Epidemiology Technician.

This multi-faceted and dynamic position will involve providing support to all aspects of the epidemiology program within the Centre for Veterinary Epidemiological Research and the Department of Health Management. This will include providing assistance with all aspects of epidemiologic research ranging from the overseeing of resources used in the research (eg. computer software) to providing bibliographic and data management services, carrying out routine statistical analyses and providing assistance to users of a wide range of computer programs. Processing and validating field data is an important aspect of the position. It will also include assisting with the preparation of material for both undergraduate and graduate level courses in epidemiology, biostatistics and related disciplines and assisting with the delivery of laboratory sessions in those courses. The individual will play an important role in the coordination of epidemiologic support services, including establishing and operating a data entry service and assisting with the overseeing and coordination of other technical staff resources in the Department.

Candidates must have a University degree (preferably at the MSc level) and a very strong working knowledge of applied statistics and data management techniques. Candidates must have strong computer skills including familiarity with one or more statistical packages, expertise in the management and processing of computer files, familiarity with general purpose office software (word processors, spreadsheets etc.) and have the ability to learn new programs quickly. The candidate must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision. The candidate must also have strong organizational, communication and interpersonal relations skills.

Hours of Work:
37.5 hours per week
Salary: $42,846.00 per annum, as per CUPE 1870 (salary under review)
