Salary Range:

$54,234 - $80,983

Position Status:




The Consulting Biostatistician is responsible for providing statistical support to investigators/researchers as well as internally to other members of the research team.



Main Responsibilities (This is not an exhaustive list)


Characteristic responsibilities include:

  • Designs and conducts statistical analyses. Prepares detailed reports of results.
  • Works with other researchers on statistical aspects of study design, planning and analysis. Participates in writing/reviewing manuscripts for publication.
  • Provides teaching sessions to researchers on statistical design and analysis
  • Maintains proficiency in the use of statistical software packages and programming languages.
  • Acts in accordance with recognized professional guidelines for statisticians
  • Maintains confidentiality and non-disclosure on all non-public domain information

·                                                                                 Performs work in accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all CHEO and CHEO Research Institute corporate/departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety.

·                                                                                 Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.





  • Minimum Masters degree in statistics, biostatistics, or epidemiology
  • 2-5 yrs experience in data management and statistical design and methods for applied clinical research
  • Clinical health research experience
  • Previous statistical consulting experience
  • Ability to educate investigators on analysis and decisions made regarding study design
  • Conversant with statistical software (SPSS or other statistical software) and programming languages
  • Proficiency in the computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to prioritize, Time Management Skills
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and organization skills
  • Bilingualism an asset ( English and French)
  • Police record check (PRC)
