Currently, we are looking for a master level bio-statistician
for a 1 year mat-leave replacement term with possibility to
extend.

BIOSTATISTICIAN
BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS
Urban Health and Research Initiative Program
Please note: Only Canadian Citizens, legal residents or residents with a
legal work permit will be considered.
STATUS: This is a one year full time mat leave replacement with possibility
for extension
JOB START DATE: Jan 2, 2011
SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
LOCATION: BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS (BC-CfE), Vancouver, BC
JOB: To be responsible for statistical and epidemiological analysis.
ORGANIZATION: The Centre currently employs a team of statisticians,
programmers, data managers, and data entry clerks who work collaboratively
on cohort-based epidemiological and clinical studies. The BC-CfE is a
world renown HIV/AIDS research Centre including Research Laboratory,
Clinical Trials, Drug Treatment Program, Epidemiology and Professional
Education Programs.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
* General statistical and epidemiological analysis
* Maintaining confidentiality in dealing with all matters
* Demonstrate practical collaborative experience
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
* Master's degree in biostatistics or statistics
* Demonstrated practical collaborative experience
* Understanding of epidemiological methods
* Knowledge of Oracle programming an asset
* Expertise in statistical packages - SAS, S-plus/R
* Expertise in statistical techniques - longitudinal, multivariate,
hierarchical, data-mining, survival analysis, among others
* Knowledge of epidemiological methods - confounder analysis,
cohort studies
* Ability to work independently to meet team and organizational goals
* Excellent problem solving and communication skills
* Assist researchers in writing grant applications and manuscripts
* Ability to work in Microsoft Office
