Subject: [d-ssc] Postdoctoral fellowship - Montreal

Postdoctoral Fellow
Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research, Montreal, QC, Canada
Segal Cancer Centre, Jewish General Hospital
An exciting opportunity exists for a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on statistical methods for the analysis of human genetic and genomic data at the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research in Montreal.   In meta-analysis, measures of data quality can improve the accuracy of inference.  In genomics, however, it is common for data quality measures to be merely used as cut-offs for exclusion of data.  You will work on approaches for incorporating data quality measures into gene _expression_ analysis and into copy number estimation techniques.

You will be able to interact with Scientists, students and other postdoctoral fellows at the Centre for Clinical Epidemiology and Community Studies at the Lady Davis Institute, and with researchers at the Segal Cancer Centre.  Also, at nearby Universities (McGill University and at the University of Montreal), there are many individuals involved in the analysis of genetic and genomic data, so you will join a vibrant community of researchers in Montreal.

Qualifications: A PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, or a related field as long as the candidate has a strong background in theoretical statistics.  In depth experience in programming in R/S-Plus as well as tools such as perl or java will be a very strong asset.  Experience and knowledge in human genetics would also be helpful.

To apply, send a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, a statement outlining your research interests, and contact information for three referees to Dr. Celia Greenwood, Senior Scientist, Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research, Associate Professor, McGill University Department of Oncology and Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health. celia.greenwood@utoronto.ca.   Applications will be considered until the position is filled.
