Salary/Benefits: This position is classified as a T3. Minimum: $49,500 annually. Maximum: $69,500 annually.


This position is a shared position between the Alberta Cancer Registry and Cancer Surveillance beginning immediately.

Reporting to the Programmer Analyst in Cancer Registry and the Manager of Surveillance your duties will include:

  • To assist in the documentation, maintenance, running, and improvement of Cancer Registry programs and accessory databases;
  • To assist in Cancer Registry activities and projects as needed, including queries of the Cancer Registry database for data quality assurance and research projects;
  • Participate on specific committees when assigned;
  • Conduct data extraction and linkages;
  • Create databases for specific research projects;
  • Perform data analyses to answer data requests and ensure required procedures and guidelines are followed;
  • Disseminate data in an efficient and secure manner;
  • Assist with the preparation of graphs, tables and written reports for publication;
  • Facilitate knowledge exchange between co-workers in the Cancer Registry and Surveillance;
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum BSc with a background and interests relevant to cancer, statistics, and database management.  Must have training or experience with SAS software and be familiar with Microsoft Office, SQL, and calculating statistics.
