Department of Mathematics & Statistics
The University of Calgary invites applications for a two-year limited term position at the Instructor level in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, beginning July 1, 2012. The Department is seeking an outstanding candidate with expertise in Actuarial Science and related disciplines. Exceptional candidates from related areas of Statistics and Probability are encouraged to apply.
Duties include teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level in Actuarial Science and related topics, participation in curriculum development and administrative duties, and active support for our actuarial program including assistance with the co-operative education program and advancement of students to professional status.
Qualifications of the ideal candidate include: a graduate degree in Actuarial Science or a closely related field, with preference for a PhD; a demonstrated expertise in teaching Actuarial Science and Statistics at the university level, or the ability to bring relevant industrial experience into the classroom; facility with the use of technology in classroom instruction; status with the Society of Actuaries as an Associate or Fellow or Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst, or demonstrated progress towards such a status.
