Sessional lecturer positions and/or a twelve month lecturer position are available in the Department of Statistics, UBC-Vancouver, with anticipated start date September 1 2012. Normally, a PhD in Statistics or a related field is preferred, but candidates who have completed a Masters degree in Statistics or are currently registered in a PhD program in Statistics will be considered. The position(s) requires demonstrated ability to provide effective instruction of introductory statistics at the undergraduate level and evidence of potential to teach or assist in upper level courses. Additional duties may include assisting in evaluating and providing feedback on undergraduates’ communication skills and graduate students’ technical writing and guiding students’ consulting and case studies projects. In keeping with these duties and the goals of our undergraduate and graduate programs, the ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, experience with data analysis, and some exposure to active learning techniques.
