The Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at the
of Alberta invites applications for a tenure-track position in the
Statistics. Appointment at a higher level may be possible under
circumstances. We offer an excellent research environment with a
teaching load of 2.5 courses per year.
The successful candidate will establish his/her own research
supervise graduate students, and teach Statistics at both the
undergraduate levels. Applicants will have a PhD or international
equivalent, demonstrated accomplishments and outstanding promise
research as well as a strong commitment to graduate and
teaching. A close fit with some of the existing research being
conducted in the department is an asset. Our Statistics group
broad spectrum of research interests, ranging from such
areas such as Bioinformatics, Biostatistics and Environmetrics,
core research areas such as Design, Regression, Sampling and
Robustness and of Statistical Learning as applied to these and
and on to theoretical investigations as embodied by Mathematical
Statistics, Probability, and Stochastic Processes.
The University of Alberta has one of the leading joint
Mathematics/Statistics departments in Canada and has strong
with other scientific institutes, such as the Pacific Institute
Mathematical Sciences (PIMS), and the Banff International Research
