The Department of Production Animal Health in the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) invites applications for a full-time tenure track position in Biostatistics.

We are particularly interested in individuals with research interests and experience in biostatistics relevant to animal health and population research, including complex multilevel or hierarchical models, analysis of clustered or correlated data, generalized estimating equations, regression models or functional data analysis. Establishment of an independent research program and engagement in collaborative research is expected.

UCVM is co-located with the Faculty of Medicine, providing excellent opportunities to collaborate with the Health Research Institutes located within the U of C Health Sciences Centre, as well as other Faculties
The successful applicant is also expected to contribute to teaching in the DVM and the graduate teaching mandates of UCVM, in collaboration with other biostatisticians at the University.

Qualifications include a PhD in biostatistics or a closely related field. A DVM (or equivalent) and/or post-doctoral training is considered an asset. Demonstrated potential to establish independent and collaborative research programs is expected. Demonstrated or potential teaching excellence is required. The appointment will be in a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor.

UCVM is Canada’s fifth fully accredited veterinary college. The DVM program combines a comprehensive general veterinary education with enhanced opportunities in selected areas. The integrated core-elective curriculum combines discipline-based courses with extensive on-campus and off-campus practical learning. UCVM uses a distributed veterinary learning community, including public and private practice partners, to deliver its fourth year practicum program. Clinical activity is through engagement with regional practices. UCVM is a research-intensive Faculty with rapidly expanding research and graduate education programs.
