Cancer Clinical Research Unit
Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Ontario Cancer Institute
The Cancer Clinical Research Unit (CCRU) has a mandate to lead and promote clinical research within the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre / Ontario Cancer Institute (PM/OCI) through standardization of processes and encouraging a culture of responsibility and accountability in the conduct of clinical trials.  The CCRU is seeking a Senior Scientist in biostatistics to lead and promote biostatistics research.
The Biostatistics Department at PM/OCI is member department of the CCRU that collaborates with PM/OCI clinical and basic researchers in a broad spectrum of oncology studies by providing statistical design and analysis expertise. It supports approximately 150 new studies per year. In addition, it is involved in teaching statistics to fellows and residents within the Princess Margaret as well as graduate students within the Division of Biostatistics, Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto.
We are seeking a candidate at the PhD level who has an outstanding research record in the field of biostatistics with in-depth knowledge and experience in clinical trials or genomic and computational analysis. The candidate will build on the current expertise within the department and develop a world-class biostatistics program by advancing the core biostatistics resource and expanding its research capabilities.  As a key member of the CCRU’s business unit leadership team, the successful candidate will provide input in determining plans of action based upon your technical expertise.
This position will be eligible for appointment within an appropriate department at the University of Toronto and Scientist position within OCI. 
About PM/OCI: The PM/OCI is the largest cancer research center in Canada, and one of the top 5 in North America. At the Princess Margaret there are approximately 18,000 patient visits per year, 12,000 with new cancers. Over 20% of our patients participate in clinical trials, providing rich resources for patient-oriented research. Our clinical and research programs are outstanding and tightly integrated. With over 200 Scientists and Clinician-Scientists on staff, we encompass a broad spectrum of applied and fundamental cancer research programs with a strong focus on stem cell biology, signal transduction, immunology/immune therapy, developmental biology, medical imaging and image-guided surgery, and radiation and photodynamic therapies. Substantial clinical and translational programs in Personalized Genomic Medicine and Epigenetics are under development.
Our downtown location, adjacent to other major Toronto institutions such as the Hospital for Sick Children, the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute (Mount Sinai), the Toronto General Research Institute, the University of Toronto campus, as well as the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research and the MaRS Centre, provides an extraordinarily rich scientific environment.
