The Mathematics Department at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver) is seeking outstanding candidates for one position, subject to funding, at the tenure-track Assistant Professor level, with a starting date of July 1, 2016. A PhD or equivalent in mathematics or a related discipline is required; postdoctoral experience is normally expected.

The successful applicant will possess outstanding mathematical talent, and have demonstrated success and high potential, including a superior research record. The priority research area is Discrete Mathematics. Exceptional candidates from existing or emerging areas of research excellence in the department may also be considered. Joint appointments with other UBC departments may be possible.

The successful applicant is expected to do research in an area of interest to current faculty, to interact with related groups in the Department, to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and to supervise graduate students. The salary will be commensurate with experience and research record.
