Research Chair in Health Care Delivery at Hospital

North York General Hospital, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada is seeking candidates for multiple Research Chair positions to lead research and innovation in the following strategic areas: patient-centred outcomes; process improvement and health outcomes; informatics and patient safety; health care for diverse populations; and knowledge transfer and implementation. The Research Chairs will work alongside North York General's Gordon F. Cheesbrough Research Chair in Family and Community Medicine and leader of the University of Toronto Practice- Based Research Network
(UTOPIAN), an innovative approach to electronic medical records. The appointments will be for a five-year term with the opportunity for renewal upon completion of a successful review.

The ideal candidate will have the skills necessary to plan and conduct research leading to innovation in delivery of health care in a community academic hospital setting with the goal of enhancing quality of care and outcomes at individual and system levels. It is expected that the incumbent will report findings in peer-reviewed scientific literature; share evidence to support innovation with health care policy makers, planners, and the general public; recruit and mentor graduate students and other trainees and research staff; promote collaboration to leverage the strengths of North York General with an extensive external network; obtain external funding to support students and research staff; engage staff and physicians to achieve tangible impact, build capacity, and strengthen the culture of research and innovation. In addition, participation in committees, advisory groups, and other activities as applicable, will be expected such that
they further the objectives of North York General.
The successful candidate for the Research Chair positions must hold an MD and/or Ph.D. degree or equivalent; be eligible to apply for an academic appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto; have a distinguished reputation in research related to delivery of health care, with a track record of extramural funding as a principal investigator, peer-reviewed publications, and other innovative accomplishments; proven skills in leadership,
mentorship, and student supervision; and demonstrated productivity in research collaborations. The Research Chairs will report to the Vice-President, Medical and Academic Affairs at North York General and be provided with space at 4001 Leslie Street in Toronto. The incumbent will be encouraged to participate actively as faculty at the University of Toronto and if applicable, may have dedicated time for clinical practice.
