The Department of Mathematics at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver) invites applications for two Postdoctoral Teaching Fellows, starting July 1, 2016. Both appointments will be for 12 months, renewable for a second 12-month period if performance is satisfactory.
Fellows will teach 4 undergraduate courses per 12-month period, and take an active role in the pedagogical development and educational innovation in which UBC is emerging as a global leader.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent in Mathematics, and must provide evidence of superior skills or potential in teaching University-level material. Fluency in English is required. Research activity in an area of interest to the Department will be considered an advantage.
Fellows will be appointed as Postdoctoral Fellows in compliance with UBC Board of Governors Policy 61. In particular, a Fellow's appointment must commence within five years of being awarded the Ph.D. degree.
Applicants should use the online service MathJobs.Org to submit a current CV and statement of teaching interests, and arrange for three or more referees to upload letters of reference.
Review of applications will begin on May 9, 2016, and will continue until the positions are filled.
UBC hires on the basis of merit and is committed to employment equity. We encourage all qualified persons to apply. We strongly encourage candidates from under-represented groups to apply, including women, visible minorities, people of aboriginal origin, and people with disabilities. The positions are subject to final budgetary approval.
