Scientific Database Technician

(Full-time/Vancouver BC)

We are currently seeking for a dynamic Scientific Database Technician join the Clinical Development team in Vancouver.

This individual is a solutions-orientated problem solver with a proven ability to develop and maintain clinical databases with accuracy and consistency.

What you are great at doing:

·       Curating and managing information including clinical data, laboratory results, and genomic data in a database 

·       Performing SQL tuning, development and analysis 

·       Annotating and curating data derived from internal and externally-partnered data sources with a high level of accuracy and consistency 

·       Maintaining integrity, performing routine maintenance and clean-up of data sets 

·       Collaborating with various departments on data acquisition and sharing

What you need to be successful: 

·       A degree or diploma in information technology, computer science or similar field preferred and/or equivalent combination of education and experience 

·       Experience with relational databases (ex: PostgreSQL, MySQL) required 

·       Familiarity with clinical terminology in oncology and/or genomics an asset

What you will bring to the team:

·       Excellent attention to details and strong problem solving skills 

·       Very organized and good documentation practices 

·       Experience with importing data into database  

·       Knowledge of R or equivalent programming language to perform data clean-up

·       Good oral and written communication skills
