JOB SUMMARY:  The Saskatchewan Centre for Patient-Oriented Research (SCPOR) Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) SUPPORT
Unit vision is to work together for a healthier Saskatchewan through patient-oriented research. SCPOR builds on capacity and
collaborations to support responsive, equitable, innovative, patient-oriented research that continuously improves the care and
health of Saskatchewan people. The Biostatistical and Study Design Strategies Specialist will provide analyses and outcomes
that will be integral to the development, implementation and evaluation of SCPOR Programs, and will directly inform data-driven
decisions in patient care and health system planning. The Specialist will work with multiple data types (e.g., demographics,
clinical outcomes, continuing care data, emergency department data, patient-reported outcomes) and multiple data sources
(e.g. national, provincial, regional and study-specific epidemiologic data as available). Decisions based on their analyses will
impact the allocation and re-allocation of health system resources within the Saskatoon Health Region (SHR) and the province
of Saskatchewan. The Specialist will report to the Manager of Strategic Health and Information Performance Support (SHIPS)
and work closely with the following individuals and groups: SCPOR Research Methodologists (15 multidisciplinary health-related
scientists, drawn from Saskatchewan's post-secondary institutions); SCPOR Methods Platform Lead; SCPOR Data Services
Platform Co-Leads form the Health Quality Council and eHealth Fellow SCPOR Specialists (e.g., from the Regina - QuAppelle
Health Region); Other SCPOR stakeholders and Regional Health Authorities (RHAs) from across the province; Saskatoon
Health Region clinical and support services staff . Additionally, the incumbent may liaise with scientists and stakeholders from
other provincial support units across Canada.

EXPERIENCE:  Minimum of 3 years of related experience and proven track record in conducting complex analysis in health care research; a
combination of education and experience may be considered; Extensive experience in the principles and techniques of data
analysis, interpretation, and clinical relevance; Expert level of proficiency with SAS, SPSS, STATA, R, and related statistical
software; Experience working with inter-professional teams; Experience with teaching and/or coaching diverse groups; Previous
project management experience is an asset.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Ability to be proactive and creative in problem solving and decision making; Expert
knowledge in database creation and management; data extraction; data analysis, including advanced bio-statistical method in
design and analyses; and interpretation and reporting of results, including preparation of figures and tables; Ability to
communicate with a cross section of employees and managers, both in writing and verbally, in presentations and one- on- one
situations; Ability to provide leadership to multi-disciplinary teams, as the content knowledge expert; Ability to work in a self-motivated
manner; Attentive to detail to ensure statistical integrity, accuracy, and quality assurance on completed work; Ability
to execute statistical analysis plans and create iterative modifications dependent on outcomes; Possess strong project
management and organizational skills to prioritize and monitor project progress and ensure analyses deliverables are met.

EDUCATION: A graduate degree is required in Biostatistics (PhD preferred); MSc with relevant experience may be considered.
Additional degrees (or a combination of degree and experience) in health science related disciplines such as Epidemiology,
and/or Public Health Sciences would be an asset. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 5 year term with possibility of permanent status.
