The Department of Statistics (www.stat.ubc.ca) at the University of British Columbia (www.ubc.ca), Vancouver Campus, invites applications for a part-time sessional lecturer position for the period January 1, 2017 to April 30, 2017. The successful applicant will teach a graduate-level course in statistical methods for high dimensional biology using already prepared course material. The position requires the ability to provide effective instruction to both Statistics and Bioinformatics graduate students, knowledge of current statistical methods for bioinformatics with application to high dimensional genomics data, and familiarity with R and Github. The ability to facilitate group projects is desirable. Normally, a PhD in Statistics or Bioinformatics or a related field is preferred, but candidates who have completed a relevant Master’s degree with proven experience, or who are currently registered in a relevant PhD program and meet the UBC eligibility criteria, will be considered.
